Pterinochilus Murinus. DCF Kenya🕷💕🕷
Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce to you the star of the hobby. Literally known as the 'Golden star baboon' due it's stunning pattern and colouration. Also, known as 'O.B.T', which is an abbreviation for 'orange baboon spider'. If you cross over to the dark side, it turns into 'orange bitey thing'. ''I am like the moon, you do not want to see my darkside.'' Well, this beauty will definitely show you hers! Many colour variants to admire and they are all heavy webbers. (Tete national park variant.)
Origin: Central, East and Southern Africa.
Category: Old World.
Type: Terrestrial, but some species show arboreal behavior(most of mine do, given the option).
Habitat: They will burrow and line it with webbing, so that they can feel the vibrations of passing prey. Like mentioned above, they will webb crevices in trees and brushes.
Size: 12-15cm.
Temperature and Humidity: 18-28 Degrees. 65% Humidity.
Level: Intermediate.
Temperament: If you are a novice wanting some thrills or fancy living life on the edge, you are at the right place. Get some extra pants and look no further! This Orange beauty will keep you on your toes until you know what to expect. I would recommend a sling if are a beginner and progress with your spider. Less fresh pants needed! You will be able to anticipate their mood and speed better.
Contrary to popular belief, they can be somewhat docile and just flee when disturb. Flight and no fight! The mother of these goldies is so soft and makes my Curly look like a demon. Saying that, I know that she has a darkside and give her the respect that she deserves. Definitely a favourite!
Did you know that you are not allowed to own any in your collection if you lived in South-Africa for example. Yes, they are illegal in their native countries. Count yourself lucky, I do!
Its scientific name has both Greek and Latin roots meaning wing/feather, lip/gill and mouse.
Pteri-wing/feather. Nochilus-lip/gill. Murinus-mouse.
''If you have a rodent problem and in need of an exterminator, call Nclosures!''
